Baby proofing mums-to-be ‘must get used to weight gain’

Baby proofing mums-to-be must try to forget about the pressure to be thin in order to properly look after their child.

This is according to fashion stylist Tamara Cincik, who noted that many women feel that they have to be slim and therefore find it difficult to cope with the inevitable weight gain that comes with pregnancy.

"You're having a baby and you're responsible for its health," she said. "You have to let go of that 'I must be small' attitude."

The expert went on to give mums-to-be tips on what clothes to look out for on shopping trips, which may mean dropping into fashion stores while picking up socket covers and a door bouncer to prepare for new arrivals.

Ms Cincik reminded women that they will look different depending on what stage of pregnancy they are at and will need to choose styles according to their shape.

There is a trend among some celebrities to stay very slim while carrying a child, but nutritionist Amanda Ursell recently warned in an interview with the Sun that mothers-to-be should not emulate this as it could be harmful to their unborn infants.
